Imbolc
February the 1st is Imbolc in the Celtic Calendar, which represented the time of renewal. We are coming out of the resting phase in the depth of winter and, as the light grows, renewing our energy and our passions. If you want to connect with that energy then use this meditation to feel that energy grow within you and find out more about what you’re inspired to do this year.
Valentines and showing yourself the love
With Valentines in February it can throw the highlight on relationships or the lack thereof. Some things I see are people wondering where the romance is in their lives, or feeling especially lonely if they don’t have a partner. With such a focus on romantic love and how it’s supposed to look, it can create a sense of not being enough. So I invite you to ask yourself these questions regardless of whether you’re in a relationship or not, Who are you when you’re on your own? What ways have you recently shown yourself love? What does romance look like for you?
Ultimately if we don’t show love to ourselves, don’t know who we are on our own and aren’t satisfied with that it can lead us to looking outside of ourselves for approval and acceptance. This can lead to people pleasing behaviours which don’t serve us in the long run as we abandon our needs for others, or act in a way that is not authentic to us. The neglect of ourselves has a cost, in his book the Myth of Normal, Gabor Mate links the role that women play in nurturing everyone at their expense with the increased likelihood of autoimmune disease. People pleasing tendencies are something that can be explored either in therapy or in energy healing, and if you want to chat about what is the right option for you get in touch.
Going back to the questions above, if you struggled to answer those questions then it’s time to take yourself out on a date. Get to know yourself and show yourself the love and appreciation that you give out to others.
Self Care and Meditation Class
Starting on 18th February at Awaken in Wishaw. The initial class will focus on discussing what Self-Care is and its importance. I will provide tools to assess how well you're currently practicing self-care and explore ways to enhance it. We will also discuss potential future topics. The session will conclude with a meditation centered on self-care. The class costs £12 for 90 minutes. Here is the link https://buytickets.at/mindheartbalance/1555474
What I'm learning this Month
I’m going to a lecture about how Trauma manifests in the body, which also explores how we can heal that trauma. I’m really interested in Somatic work and want to increase my knowledge in this area. For those who aren't familiar with the term Somatic work, it means working with our body to understand our emotions and experiencing things on a physical level. As an example thing of how your stomach churns when you're anxious. I want to deepen my practice through a greater understanding of how the body influences the mind.
